A Mile In Their Boots

Get to know serving and retired men and women of the Canadian military and their stories.

reading a mile in their bootsFrom Workshop to Book

When our first Veterans’ Writing Workshop wrapped up in May 2021, the group continued to work on personal stories to contribute to this anthology. They explore a diverse range of military life experiences including a typical day of basic training, serving at sea, serving in another country, facing the challenges of returning from war, and dealing with the aftermath of a genocide.

These stories are honest and authentic, and may bring you a bit of laughter or a few tears. We hope that by reading A Mile in Their Boots, you will get to know and appreciate some of the men and women who serve in our Canadian military.

Maybe the military is one of those things that you don’t think of until you read about it. Maybe you’ll read one of these stories and be moved by the experience that someone else has shared. Maybe you are a veteran and you will relate to an experience and realize that you are not alone. Whatever you feel, we hope you will be changed in some small way after reading this book.
